Working with the International Livestock Research Institute, we led an assessment of community conservancies and other models, approaches and strategies for community-based rangeland management in Kenya, and their outcomes for rangeland condition, livestock marketing, and livelihoods. Lance Robinson led development of this policy brief, which reviewed research by the International Centre for Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and established the relevance of participatory and community-based approaches to rangeland management in the pursuit of land and ecosystem restoration.
